Happy birthday Sam!

Nev Haley Photography

August is off to a good start...
this morning my little guy pumped my gas then took me to breakfast, just us! he held my hand and told me how much he misses me when i'm at work over blueberry waffles and orange juice....

london is talking more in sentences and singing the cutest little songs, and
nev will be competing in a judo tournament next weekend in toledo!

yesterday we made it up to idle hour ranch to wish sam the giraffe a happy eleventh,
it's hard to believe, but giraffe's can live to be up to 28yrs old!
we all had a great time, but boy was it HOT
Happy Birthday to you sam.. you live in a ZOO. bahahaha

I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see.

Bum's garden

Breaking the silence

it's been an interesting summer so far to say the least. lots of ups and downs but mostly ups!
tears and smiles and laughs and lessons.  i recieved a much unexpected visit from an old friend who i never expected to see in ohio again. seeing him drive away in a cab tore my heart to a thousand pieces, but i know it will be ok.
just as a beautiful butterfly i would not want to capture, knowing its better off in parts of the world which makes it most happy. letting go sure is a hard thing though.

now and then we are faced with challanges that throws us off base for a bit, but its all in perfect line with our destiny. sometimes i have to remind myself to accept it and form myself to flow within the folds of fate without resistance.
in other words, to remember to smile and have faith and live on.

kinda like a single wish...upon a single star..

And The Sun Peeks Through

we woke up this morning to sunlight dancing on our windowsill, splashing the rooms with the most beautiful light shows. it was a hint to beat this cabin fever and get outside even if it is 45 degrees!
little london was in a happy mood today, laughing and dancing and chasing shadows round the house.
i took them over to the park to run off some of that built up energy. they so needed that, even though they left with frozen ears and runny noses!

tomorrow its back to work for me, then saturday i am shooting my first wedding. oh my.
i'll post pics as soon as i get them up:)

i hope everyone got to enjoy the sunshine!!
i know this little girl did.

A new do

as much as i would love to let denvers hair grow long, i can't seem to resist that sweet handsome little man look right after a refreshing haircut. it seems the shorter his hair gets, the longer his lashes, the bluer his eyes, and the more kissable his cheeks!
i think this was the first time there was no tears, no clutching mama's hand, not even one complaint.
we didn't even have to bribe him with a balloon.....
i suppose my guy is growing up on me, oh dear.

and a hairdo like this....makes my heart skip a beat every time.

happy saturday friends..

Before Sunset

this is my idea of a beautiful day.  cold and still and wintry. not too cold to go outside, and yet cold enough where ya need to bundle up and blast the heat! there's something i love about frosty grass and iced toes. gets me missing my homeland.
Nev and i escaped the house for a bit today, rushing to get a few pics before sunset.
a gloomy, overcast day always makes for good pictures:)

and Nev wants to move to Florida??? Whoa!?
never!

I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter.  Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show.  ~Andrew Wyeth

crazy cakes

dear london,
having you around is kinda like having a pet monkey.
except your cuter!
i love you like crazy cakes.

you really make my heart swell.

"By nature people are learning animals. Birds fly; fish swim; humans think and learn. Therefore, we do not need to motivate children into learning by wheedling, bribing, or bullying. We do not need to keep picking away at their minds to make sure they are learning. What we need to do - and all we need to do - is to give children as much help and guidance as they need and ask for, listen respectfully when they feel like talking, and then get out of the way. We can trust them to do the rest."

Berney's Back!

today was the first day back for toddler tales at the library. the puppet Berney was on his holiday vacation until now, and were grateful he's back safe and sound.
we hung around a little longer today, looking at books, snapping some photos, and taking in the silence, (one thing Denver hasn't mastered yet).

funny how you can be in such a small confined area, but yet have any time or place on Earth right at your fingertips. now thats pretty cool.

the sun is shining today! now i'm off to market. eek.

happy tuesday friends.
